Ah, yes, the great griffpatch academy. In relation to my scratch coding journey, the griffpatch academy is practically my scratch coding journey. I seriously dought I would be using scratch if it weren't for the griffpatch academy. But let me rewind. What is the griffpatch academy? Well if you use scratch then there's a good chance you know griffpatch. (If you don't I highly recomenend checking his profile out and dropping him a follow) griffpatch started up the griffpatch academy for people who wanted to go deeper into some of his coding topics. Its a fun, safe place to learn about coding, and has a truly amazing community. Check it out! When I heard of the griffpatch academy and the special founding member price, I asked my parents and they gave the all clear to give it a shot! I've been in the academy from the beginning and with it's continued release of new walkthroughs every week, game jams, and coding camps, I started using scratch a lot more often. I've been featured in three of the game jam videos, winning two categories out of those three. The prospect of having griffpatch feature my game motivated me to continue using scratch. Game jams, in case you don't know, are events that happen every month in the griffpatch academy. griffpatch gives the academy a theme and we have two-three weeks to build and submit a game based on the theme. The current game jam theme is "A Journey into the Unknown".
I'm currently working on a platformer for this game jam called Lantern of the Lost. Most of the level is shrouded in shadows and you can use your lantern to light the way. The lantern will have different modes as you can see with this preview.
